- Provide guidance and advice to project and financial and commercial managers to ensure project actuals and forecasts are designated correctly as capital or expense projects, tangible or intangible with reference to New Zealand equivalents to International Financial Reporting Standards (NZ IFRS).
- Review and provide input into the development, preparation and documentation of business cases and new initiatives to ensure they provide appropriate audit evidence that the accounting treatment complies with NZ IFRS.
- Manage the integration of data between the project management system, the financial management system and the reporting
- Manage the capitalisation process to ensure projects are capitalised accurately and in a timely manner into the accounting and tax fixed asset registers.
- Account for the revaluation of generation assets, including preparation of the revaluation entries and managing the process of applying the revaluation into the fixed asset register.
- Prepare the fixed asset note disclosures required for the interim and annual financial statements and Crown
- Manage month end preparation and reporting around projects, fixed assets, work in progress, and other associated balances to ensure the information is accurate and provided on time.
- Liaise with external and internal auditors where necessary, providing information and/or reports as
- Identify and communicate potential tax related issues to the Tax Manager and assist him/her with project/fixed asset related information required for the monthly tax calculations and the tax return.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or other Business related degree
- Good understanding of New Zealand Accounting Standards applicable to the role (NZ IFRS)
- Good understanding of accounting processes for projects and fixed assets
- Experience in working with Oracle or similar accounting package
