Whangarei Acute Spectrum Specialist Services, MHAS(1.0 FTE, Permanent)Te Whatu Ora is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Māori as Tāngata Whenua as the highest priority.About the Role:Whangarei Acute Spectrum Specialist Services (W.A.S.S.S.) is a group of community-based teams that provide acute specialist assessment and treatment for new and existing clients within Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau Mental Health and Addictions service. We currently have an opening in our team for a Registered Nurse with a passion for Mental Health Nursing. In this full time role (40 hours per week) working a 4 on 4 off rotating 12 hour roster that provides 24 hour coverage based in Whangarei you will provide a single point of entry service for acute and non-acute referrals to the service as well as dedicated phone line support.You will conduct preliminary assessments of whether a person is likely to have a mental illness or disorder, and the nature of urgency of the response required against the ratified Triage scale. We aim to reduce wait times and provide the best experience we can for whānau under our care.We are a close whānau that works collaboratively together and genuinely care about each other.   • Comprehensive Nurse Registration and a current practicing certificate
  • Two years' experience in acute and/or kaupapa led community mental health practice working with tāngata whaiora and their whānau living with the effects of mental illness in our community
  • Be a Duly Authorised Officer or be willing to work towards the same
  • Proven ability to communicate well with tāngata whaiora, their whānau and colleagues, and engage Māori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing
  • A current drivers licence
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing personal and professional development
