Le Va is New Zealand's national Pasifika wellbeing non-government organisation within the Wise Group. Our purpose is to support Pasifika people reach their full potential so that our families and communities are flourishing. Our approach is holistic: we believe health encompasses mental, physical, social and spiritual wellbeing. Our portfolio supports this perspective, encompassing mental health, addictions, disability, public health, suicide prevention, violence prevention, and cultural competency programmes.The Role
This role will contribute to supporting the establishment, design, and delivery of Le Va programmes as specified in the appendix. At Le Va, we also support across teams, and the role will involve supporting other Le Va activities where required.You are a vital part of the Le Va organisation. The primary function of this role is to work with the Flo: Pasifika for Life suicide prevention programme, to lead the delivery of workshops, events and other activities for the Pasifika community. For the Project Coordinator, this also includes leading specific administrative tasks to a high-performance standard.It is expected that all projects are evidence-informed, high quality, follow best practice standards, are within budget, on time, and are evaluated - particularly to meet the needs of Pasifika youth in New Zealand. You will have the skills, knowledge and experience to independently manage specific tasks allocated to you, facilitate education and training workshops, and effectively engage Māori and Pasifika communities and young people. You will also be passionate about enhancing Pasifika wellbeing, by supporting mental health and eliminating violence, sexual violence and suicide within Pasifika communities in New Zealand.This is a full-time position, working Monday- Friday, 8:30am - 5pm. Based in Manukau, Auckland. (Occasional weekend or evening work as required)You

You will have the skills, knowledge and experience to independently manage specific tasks allocated to you, facilitate education and training workshops, and effectively engage Pasifika communities and young people.Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or demonstrable experience working with Māori/Pasifika youth and communities.
  • Experience working with Pasifika communities.
  • Demonstrable project-coordination/management and time-management skills, including strong computer skills.
  • Current full, clean New Zealand driver's license and flexibility to travel nationally with ease.
  • A high level of Maori/Pasifika Cultural competency.
  • Experience working with Maori/Pasifika communities including youth.
  • Experience in programme and workshop facilitation and delivery.
  • Comfortable to work in the areas of mental health, suicide and sexual violence prevention. Demonstrable practice of the Treaty of Waitangi principles.
  • Possesses a strong value base that supports inclusive ways of working with people from diverse cultural groups.
Preferred Qualifications and skills
  • Experience in community or social sectors.
  • Fluency in a Pasifika language.
  • Research and/or evaluation experience and skills.
  • Ability to engage via digital platforms and reach through social media
