You will be coaching and mentoring our Tangata Whaiora and Rangatahi/Youth with essential life skills accross multiple services.The role offers lots of variety, potential for growth, and great job satisfaction. Within the role, you will work closely with the clinical team to ensure Rangatahi are kept safe and are well supported. You will be walking alongside them as they learn to live independently, learn new skills, connect with their community, and set and achieve goals.You'll also walk alongside Tangata Whaiora, providing support to help them create and achieve goals, realise their potential and achieve as much independence as possible.We have 2 Casual positions available.Your duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Encourage and support Tangata Whaiora connections with Whānau and provide support with appointments around mental and physical health.
  • Provide day to day support in alignment with their goals and support plans including risk management plans and Safety Plans.
  • Work with Tangata Whaiora and Rangatahi to identify significant goals. Provide encouragement and support them to achieve their goals.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, bringing ideas and updating others on their activities.
  • Ensure all incidents are documented appropriately.
He kōrero mōu | About YouIn this role, you will need to be patient, calm approach and be comfortable handling challenging situations and behaviors. You will be resilient, have a recovery focus, and be experienced in working with young people and working in a residential service setting. You will also need to be comfortable with considerable administrative and data-based tasks.Additionally, you'll ideally have the following:
  • A Level 4 (or higher) qualification in Health and Wellbeing or be working towards one.
  • Good level of computer skills to record notes and hand-over information.
  • Previous experience within the mental health and/or addiction sector
  • Communication skills and a strong cultural competency are vital for this role.
  • A Full New Zealand Driving License.
  • Experience of one-to-one support within the community is preferred but not essential.
  • It's essential that you have a Full New Zealand driving licence.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally safe practice.
