With a healthy pipeline of work and opportunities for further growth, our team is in strong demand to deliver world-class projects for our communities.If you are a high achieving professional, looking to take the next step and create your place in the industry, then this challenging role provides opportunities in leadership, business development, and mentoring our next generation of leaders.Our ideal candidate for this role will be a skilled leader with an ability to balance the technical delivery of a variety of water projects with the operational requirements associated with running a well-established, successful team within a large organisation.You will have strong industry connections and be able to develop and grow GHD's presence and market share across the water industry. You must have a commitment to further enhancing strong technical authority with a client-led mindset.Working with our Operations Manager, Water Market Leader and our Central and Southern water BGLs , this pivotal position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Leading the Northern Water Business Group, a team of approximately 60 water engineers across the upper North Island
  • Geographically responsible for water team members in our Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and New Plymouth offices
  • The current group structure has four Team Leaders and the group's Principals directly reporting to this Business Group Leader role.
  • Overall accountability for the group's performance, people, and resources..
  • Integral role for the national water leadership group for New Zealand & Pacific
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with government and private sector clients as well as across the GHD Enterprise.
  • Working closely with Market Leaders to agree strong market sector alignment for the business plan and GHD's Make It Real strategy.
  • Build a strong business development and winning work culture, with effective positioning and pursuit of large and strategic opportunities and expanding GHD's presence and market share.
  • Lead the technical and commercial direction on significant projects or programs of work, identifying and creating business opportunities and effectively managing risks.
  • Develop and mentor a talented team of technical specialists.
  • Drive a safety culture throughout the business and across our projects.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Engaging and motivating people skills backed by strategic problem-solving capabilities.
  • A relevant degree supported by solid relevant industry and consulting experience being essential.
  • Commercially astute with strong project delivery experience, including providing support to Project Directors and Project Managers to deliver outstanding client experiences coupled with both technical and commercial performance on projects.
  • Passionately innovative, with a drive to continuously evolve the way we work to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.
  • High level market awareness and business development skills with a strong focus on client engagement and ideally a well-established network of relationships across potential clients.
  • You are a hardworking, supportive and motivating leader able to get the best out of your team and comfortable with mentoring and technical supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and people leadership skills.
