Influence the standard of roading in Marlborough and directly manage an integrated transport network.Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunityAs Network Manager you will help to lead the stewardship of both state highway and local roading networks across all of Marlborough. You will maintain relationships with key stakeholders on behalf of NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and the Marlborough District Council. You will ensure the maintenance of all the assets and facilities across the system are managed effectively and that the access and use is maintained.As a member of the Network Management team, you will work closely with the Maintenance Contract Manager, Network Manager, Senior Network Manager, Journey Manager, Suppliers and Customers to support the delivery of our regional maintenance and operations programme. You will be responding to customers’ needs, whilst also taking a practical and pragmatic approach to manage suppliers. You will bring a ‘fix-it’ attitude and have a strong desire to manage and resolve issues and draw on your previous experience in a similar role.The Marlborough region offers an array of outdoor pursuits in a distinctive and picturesque landscape and many unique lifestyle opportunities. Sound organisational, asset management and negotiation skills accompanied with good decision making will be integral to your success.To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
  • Technical and practical experience in road engineering and asset management (preferred)
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills
  • Experience at dealing with complex and sensitive issues in a political environment
  • Experience working across central and local government would be advantageous
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of delivering best value solutions within a constrained budget
  • Experience in emergency response, Lifelines, or resilience activities
  • Strong customer and stakeholder management skills
  • A Bachelor of Engineering or a relevant tertiary/trade qualification
  • NZ Driver's Licence (or equivalent) is required
