The role
As a Civil Utility Worker, you will handle general civil works that include tasks specific to excavating electricity cables, cable installations, excavation management and reinstatement. This role will report to the Supervisor, and will be based at our Auckland Depot, your safety and that of others around you is your number one priority in this role.The key responsibility for this position includes, but are not limited to:
- Site establishment to relevant Safe Work Practices
- Carryout Hazard Identification and tailgate delivery
- Heavy lifting, hand digging and other manual tasks
- Truck driving
- Construction of trench shoring
- Concrete and block work
- Hiab operations
- Quality assurance
- Ensure correct tools, plant and PPE are available for task
- Carry out hazard identification, identify underground obstructions and set up safe sites to relevant Safe Work Practices
- Discuss worksite safety risks identified at the site with the supervisors and project managers and the effective controls to mitigate risks.What's in it for you?

You'll be working on a variety of exciting projects and be someone who enjoys getting stuck in to get the job done. You're willing to proactively support the team to undertake work activities without being told.To be successful in this role, you will also have some of the following skills:
- A valid driver's licence (Class 2) is preferred
- WTR endorsements would be an added advantage
- Maintaining physical fitness and the ability to lift weights up to 20 kilograms
- A great work attitude and willingness to be part of a diverse team along with a strong focus to health & safety
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and communicate well
- Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbout us
