Job Description J & D Adolph Ltd, a Northland kumara growing and lamb finishing business is looking for an assistant manager. The company produces the red, purple and beauregard kumara varieties and finishes around 2,200 lambs during the winter. The business farms 160 hectares 10 min from the Dargaville town centre and employs around 35 plus locals and backpacker's peak season.The assistant manager role is highly varied, beginning the season with managing and hands on construction of plant propagation beds, moving into managing a group of tractor operators during spring, operating a sophisticated irrigator during summer, then assisting supervising a good-sized team of workers at harvest. Afterward, onto farm and machinery maintenance and sheep work over winter.The requirements of the position are:Leadership experience and good communication skills are required to be able to train, manage and lead large teams of staff from a wide range of socio economic, cultural, and employment backgrounds.Skill and experience with training of new and inexperienced staff up to a high and consistent standard.Time management, delegation and prioritisation skillsExperience with tractor operation with a range of implements to a good level. The irrigator and other machines we have are complex and require good machinery operation aptitude to avoid problems.An understanding of how to repair and maintain machinery is desirable. Such as tractor and implement servicing, diagnosing problems and fitting new parts. Some experience with metal work could be of benefit.A willingness to work with, implement, and maintain systems in the workplace is required.
