- Two full-time staff membersSharemilking 420 cows, our client is looking for a motivated Farm Manager who can oversee the day-to-day running of the farm. The farm is located in Maihihi district, situated 20 minutes from Otorohanga, and 30 minutes from Te Awamutu. Local primary school is a 5 minute drive down the road with bus options to both Te Awamutu and Otorohanga collage's nearby.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the farm including identifying any issues that affect core farm activities eg water, power or machinery
- Managing pasture through regular pasture walks
- Monitor herd health and welfare, including identifying and treating sick animals
- Coordinate the on-farm team during tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and maintenance
- Oversee the milking process in the 40 aside herringbone cow shed, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the milking area
- Assist with calving/mating and have the ability to pick cows for ABAbout You:
- 3 years experience in managing dairy farming operations
- An understanding of pasture management and animal husbandry practices including some experience with young stock
- Tractor driving experience and understanding of farm machinery
- Take pride in a well-presented farm
- Confident in picking cows for AB
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities
- Relevant dairy industry training and computer literacy
- Has an appetite for continuous improvement
