You'll be responsible for the maintenance and repair and operation of one of our track maintenance machines, predominantly the RM80 Ballast cleaner, to industry codes and standards, ensuring availability of use. You'll also be required at times to support on other machines in the group.You'll carry out various maintenance checks and repairs on a travelling machine on site in remote locations across the country which involves working outdoors in all-weather conditions. Your home base will be Palmerston North and you'll cover the North Island rail network, however there will be a requirement to travel to the South Island when needed.You'll be required to stay away from home for a 10-day period (Tuesday to the following Thursday), the shift pattern being 10 days on and 4 days off.What you'll needYou'll be committed to supporting a team environment and be self-directed to undertake unsupervised repairs and maintenance. You'll also have a commitment to safe working practices and Zero Harm principles.To be successful in this role you'll have prior experience in a mechanical environment, preferably within heavy industry or the automobile industry.
