Are you ready to join us?Right now, we're looking for a Midwife Educator to support the maternity service teams learning and development to ensure a high standard of midwifery care. You will work alongside the team to support excellence in practice through delivery of programmes that enhance midwifery skills and professional growth.Based at Timaru Hospital in a new purpose-built facility, the maternity service provides care to woman in South Canterbury with approximately 550 births per year ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high needs.The Midwife Educator primarily works in collaboration with the Midwife Manager and Midwife Clinical Coach to develop, coordinate and manage education programmes for maternity related services. Working alongside midwives, the focus is to promote a learning environment underpinned by strong role modelling and a commitment to the development of knowledge and skills.Working as an educator, researcher, and leader/change agent in the ongoing pursuit of clinical excellence and improved health outcomes, it is essential that the Midwife Educator role is underpinned by strong role modelling and a commitment to the development of knowledge and skills through sound research and evidence-based practice.Skills for success in this roleYou will need to have (or be working towards) a relevant post-graduate qualification, commitment for your profession and the enthusiasm and skills for 'returning the learning' and facilitating the development of maternity and related services.
  • NZ fully qualified Registered Midwife with a current APC and recent clinical leadership experience
  • Working towards or has completed the Quality Leadership Programme
  • Role model for contemporary clinical practice and woman/wahine centered care
  • Understanding of Tikanga Maori and ability to apply the principles of Te Tiriti to practice.
  • Understanding of Turanga Kaupapa and cultural competence
  • Knowledge and compliance with legislative and best practice requirement
