Reporting to the Head of Legal & Risk, you will be responsible for providing advice and guidance on H&S issues relevant to our company, and for the management and delivery of compliant, user friendly and risk focused Health, Safety & Wellbeing programmes.Other duties include:
  • Maintaining the HSW ISO 45001 framework and procedures to ensure ongoing safety resulting in a safe and injury free workplace
  • Regular meetings with our H&S committee members based around the country to identify and manage risks
  • Conduct and monitor accident, incident, and near miss investigations ensuring appropriate corrective actions are completed in a timely manner
  • Occasional branch visits to conduct internal audits
  • Analysing and reporting on all H&S metrics
  • Maintaining and communicate the hazard register for all sites including proactive reporting of hazards and near misses
  • Coach and influence multiple stakeholders in safety to achieve a change in culture, instilling responsibility and ownership of safety to reduce risks
Skills & experience
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • NZ Certificate in Workplace H&S Practice (Level 4) or working towards it is advantageous
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments and identifying effective controls and solutions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
