You will be working within a secondary care setting participating in the anaesthetic roster, covering: planned care and acute theatre sessions, anaesthesia after-hours on call support, anaesthetic pre-assessment clinics and working as the duty anaesthetist . In this role you will provide support to other departments including: obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology and Dental. About this positionThe successful candidates will:

Deliver quality services to improve health of the population in Marlborough region.
Participate in the 1:8 Anaesthetics on-call after hour - s roster to support other departments including: emergency department, medical, obstetrics (including epidurals), and paediatric patients requiring anaesthetic support.
Undertake daytime acute and elective theatres, pre-anaesthetic check clinics, duty, and acute anaesthetist responsibilities. When rostered to elective theatres you will work with multidisciplinary team including General Surgery, Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dental, and Urology specialities.
Supervise and participate in teaching junior medical workforce on ED or medical rotations.

Who is an appropriate applicant?The ideal applicants will:

Bring your Anaesthesia expertise to an acute secondary care hospital and contribute to critical care to the patients in the Marlborough region.
Hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA), or equivalent overseas qualification.
Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational registration of Anaesthesia with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Work with others to promote a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines.
Demonstrate commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
