Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa is seeking passionate and dedicated Kaiawhina Casual Support Workers to join their Ngā Whare Tūhono, Mental Health Residential Service. Ngā Whare Tūhono is a 22-bed facility supporting whanaunga over an extended period (6 months +) with the aim to transition whanaunga towards partially or fully independent living. You will be working with people from all walks of life starting from ages 18+.Position Details
- Monday - Sunday, (12-hour shift rostered 4 days on, 4 days off shift rotation). Please note, the role requires to work on a roster of 8.00am-8.00pm on a fortnightly rotational basis. This may change to 7.00am - 7.00pm as required by business needs.
- Starting from $27.50 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience, aligned with pay equity)
- Providing emotional support and companionship
- Monitoring and reporting on whanaunga progress
- Advocating for the whanaunga
- Supporting personal development
- Handling crisis situations when required
- Collaborating with internal and external healthcare professionals and services
- Respecting and accommodating cultural and personal differences
- Will pride themself on their ability to work to a whānau first, tikanga based, wellbeing approach
- Demonstrate genuine empathy and active listening to the concerns and needs of whanaunga whilst remaining supportive
- Be able to follow procedures and instructions
- Have a reasonable level of computer literacy to complete case notes and other electronic documents e.g., emails
- Have 1-3 years working in a kaupapa Māori environment
- Have 1-3 years support work experience
- Have a level 4 qualification in mental health and addiction or higher, te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, or readiness to study towards these qualifications
- Have evidence of being fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19
- Have a full driver's licence
- Have proof of your right to work in New Zealand (One-year minimum)
