As an Arborist with Northpower, your main responsibility is to ensure that powerline networks are maintained in the best possible condition, from scaling trees to trimming branches, you'll ensure uninterrupted power for our communities. This role will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that everything operates smoothly, and you will be based at our Hamilton or Rotorua Depot.The key responsibility for this position includes, but are not limited to:
- Manage Transmission network vegetation
- Operate chainsaws and chippers
- Climbing tree, branch trimming, tree selection and planting
- Negotiate with Suppliers/stakeholders
- Expert in climbing and platforms
- Ensure safety and complianceWhat's in it for you?

To qualify for this position, you need Arboriculture qualifications and previous experience as an Arborist. Although familiarity with high voltage networks is preferred, it's not mandatory.To be successful in this role, you will also have some of the following skills:
- Arborist qualification at Level 4 or above with hands-on tool expertise
- Prior experience near high voltage networks preferred
- Certificate in Electrical Supply (Vegetation Control) will be an advantage
- Comfortable climbing trees and working at heights
- Proficient in felling, pruning, rigging and tree dismantling
- Valid NZ class 1 driver's license (Class 2 preferred)
- Ideal to possess a Class 2 Truck license
- Strong physical fitness and dedicated safety mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must thrive as a team player.About us
