Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō | Working together for Wellington's futureWe're looking for a Harm Prevention Advisor to help us shape our operational responses to addressing the drivers of harm in our communities, with a focus on the key areas of homelessness, drug & alcohol harm, and sexual violence prevention.We proudly work with a number of key partners to address harm in Pōneke. In this role, you'll develop harm reduction initiatives, build meaningful relationships, provide subject matter expertise and help shape the strategic direction of how Council addresses various types of harm within communities. This could vary in what it looks like day to day - from designing awareness-raising campaigns to collecting valuable insights from people with lived experience and the agencies that support them. This is a varied role with heaps of potential for growth and new opportunities. You'll also be involved with the networks we run, including our Multi-Disciplinary Team Network, a forum for agencies responding to acute cases of homelessness; as well as supporting with the delivery of the homelessness component of the and assisting with the development of the new homelessness strategy for Council.We're looking for someone who has experience working in harm prevention in the community, in particular housing and homelessness. Ideally you'll also have some experience or exposure to strategic development work (such as project delivery and/or supporting with the creation of a strategy) and you'll be keen to grow and develop in this space. Relationship management skills are really important so we're looking for someone with strong communication skills who can work with a wide range of people - if you have experience with facilitation in meetings and with networks, that would be a bonus but isn't essential. Working in partnership is integral to what we do so an understanding of community development and collaboration with external organisations is important. You'll be able to identify issues and opportunities holistically and apply your analytical problem-solving skills. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment as well as an understanding of the principles of harm reduction and the role local and central government play is also helpful.The Empowering Communities team work directly with diverse communities and are a passionate, friendly, values-driven rōpū.
