Senior Laboratory Technician / Adit Developer Lead - Napier

We are looking for an experienced laboratory technician to perform laboratory and/or field testing, with attention to safely providing support to our sub-disciplines. The work will be based in Onekawa, Napier, and split between a development role where you will be liaising with clients as part of a project team, and a typical civil engineering laboratory role. Often the work is hands-on, physical and dirty, requiring a reasonable degree of physical capability and, at times, working in adverse environmental conditions.This role will guarantee a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, but may require early starts, late finishes, and occasional overtime.Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Geotechnical field-testing, sampling, investigating, and testing/ monitoring of ground material properties.
  • Civil laboratory testing.
  • Operating heavy testing and soil sampling equipment.
  • Monitoring geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Environmental monitoring.
  • Tracking bug fixes and changes.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the product and developing subject matter expertise in parallel areas/ workstreams.
  • Owning the product, modules, features, user stories, backlog, what's been developed, and what needs to be developed/released over time.
  • Engaging with the Project Team to understand what adds maximum value from a customer viewpoint and to the economics of the solution.
  • Interfacing with all stakeholders for continued development and embedment of solutions
  • Troubleshooting customer and staff technical inquiries
  • Labelling, sealing, and storing samples appropriately.
  • Handling/disposing of hazardous or toxic chemicals and samples responsibly and with care.
  • Prioritising the safety and well-being of yourself and the team.
What you'll bring
  • ​​BSc or other relevant tertiary degree​
  • 2-5 years of work experience in the laboratory testing of soil, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt.
  • A good level of physical fitness and ability to lift items weighing 25kg+ on a regular basis.
  • Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • AGS experience would be desirable.
  • A full driver's license.
